One of the key drivers for any successful organizational transformation process is the organizational transformation consultant. He/she plays a vital role in delivering phenomenal results to the organization that they are working with. In this edition of iFaber, we had a chat with yet another talented transformation consultant from Faber Infinite Consulting – Mr. Survashish Chattopadhayay. He has helped several clients across the world, in multiple industries. He is a Chemical Engineer with a Masters in Operations Management; Specialized in Strategy and Operational Excellence with rich experience in Lean Six Sigma Deployment. He believes in changing paradigm and building consensus during the transformation projects while pursuing excellence. Below is an excerpt of our conversation with Mr. Chattopadhayay.
Faber Infinite (FI): What is your role at Faber Infinite Consulting? How does a typical day look like for you?
Survashish Chattopadhayay (SC): I am a Transformation Consultant at Faber Infinite Consulting, leading, coaching and hand-holding our clients towards operational excellence.
A typical day at a client location looks like a scene from DiCaprio starrer movie ‘Inception’.
To elaborate further, we start by nurturing an idea for continuous improvement in the minds of the team and achieve the so-called ‘impossible’!
FI: What is most rewarding about your job; what makes it all worthwhile?
SC: The reward is in the journey itself, pun intended; since our delivery model incorporates Transformation Journey where we deploy tools to facilitate the culture building and growth.
A simple comment from the client’s team on how our tools and techniques have made an impact on their journey and benefits achieved makes the whole journey meaningful and worthwhile.
FI: Which was one of the biggest challenges that you have faced here, and what did you learn from it?
SC: a Biggest challenge I face is from the ‘Know It All’. I simply believe that life is a continuous improvement journey and closing oneself from learning is like choosing to die without losing your breath.
I have learned that such people really exist on earth! We need to have our patience around them and eventually, we hold the power to change the world and everyone in it. Overall, such experiences have helped me become more humble and appreciate all situations and take it calmly.
FI: How has Faber Infinite Consulting helped you grow? Are your personal aspirations and traits aligned with your role?
SC: Faber Infinite has helped me challenge my capabilities every day, presented me with opportunities to grow bigger than I was the day before. It has nurtured the craftsman in me!
My personal aspirations of impacting the lives of several people in a meaningful way are very much, aligned with my role.
FI: In what ways the accomplishments are recognized. Share with us one of your accomplishment and how was it recognized?
SC: Accomplishments at Faber are recognized on a monthly basis through our transparent Performance Management System (PMS), where we get 12 opportunities in a year to hit the bullseye. Apart from this, we have brownie points & much-awaited Faber of the Year award which is meant to reinforce behaviors in sync with the Faber culture and goals!
I was awarded brownie points for good work done at our client end and by a motivating video message put up by my reporting manager all across our Faber family!
FI: Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you at Faber Infinite? Maybe someone who has been a mentor to you? Why and how did this person impact your life at Team Faber?
SC: Mr. Vishal Singh has made a huge impact on me at Faber Infinite. As a mentor, he has ensured the best quality service is maintained during project delivery and also, he continuously encourages his teammates to achieve beyond the imaginable.
We spend maximum time of our life at the job and hence the way we perform at work shapes our future. Hence, our mentors play a major role in changing our destiny.
