Today, on the World Yoga Day, as the world is promoting the benefits of yoga; it would be pertinent for us to draw a parallel to its relevance to the business world!
In today’s ever-changing era in business, change is the only constant. And, hence change management is just as important to business, as yoga is to body. Both Change Management and Yoga have been backed by science since ages. And like yoga can deliver healthy life, ‘structured’ change management efforts can lead to successful business operations!
Let us see how Yoga and Change Management are similar and how it can help one’s body and organization;

  1. Improves health:

As we all know, Yoga helps in improving health by improving the respiratory system, by making the body flexible, thus helping individuals become stronger and more confident. Similarly, Change Management helps an organization reduce the fear of time needed to implement change, reduces the resistance to change, makes the organization stronger for any business transformation activity and much more.

  1. Reduces stress and anxiety:

As Yoga helps your body to reduce anxiety and stress, similarly Change Management helps to reduce the stress and anxiety of the employees as they are working on a transformation initiative. We have seen that resistance to change in the organization could be due to stressful and anxious situations which may arise while implementing change. Hence, change management is necessary for the organization to prepare its employees for change and eliminate anxiety and stress.

  1. Improves the quality of life:

Yoga improves quality of life. It helps us live a better and healthy life. In the same way, change management will improve the quality of the organization’s offerings, manufacturing processes, functioning, and culture, etc. This will help organizations become more profitable, lean and offer services of high quality.

  1. Minimizes the possibility of defects/ disease:

Yoga makes your body stronger and increases your immunity. Likewise, rolling out structured change management helps organizations reduce and eliminate all kinds of defects – wastages and cultural gaps. It will make the process stronger and optimum making the end result defect and error free.

  1. Improves flexibility:

As yoga is effective in increasing the flexibility of your body, change management backed by proven approach is known for improving the flexibility of the organization. Thus, making it easier for organizations to adopt any change initiative in a more effective and enhanced manner. However, flexibility also promotes innovation, speed and improves the coordination process within the organization.
This International Yoga Day, let us take a step in making yoga and structured change management the way of life and move ahead in achieving health and prosperity in our professional as well as personal lives.
