Equipments are the most important part of any manufacturing facility. The downtime and repairing costs of machinery is a very expensive and getting more expensive day by day. To tackle and reduce the downtime of machinery, many companies store spare parts of such machines at the manufacturing facility itself. However, as a result of this, companies fail to diagnose the real problem behind the failure of machines in the first place and consequently suffer from another downtime with time. This not only increases the costs of manufacturing by increasing the expenses on spare parts but also creates a very drastic impact in the productivity as well. This is just an example form the manufacturing setup. To avoid this and sustain the gain achieved, companies need to implement some corrective measures. A regular analysis and timely check-up and service can be a great alternative to keep the processes in check.

Prevention

Many people face troubles in sustaining the gain and fail to keep the graphs up. Prevention can be one of the most effective measures to keep the processes on the higher pitch. Instead of blaming oothersfor the problems and feeling content at solving the problem on a temporary basis, one should ask themselves questions that can lead themselves to the root cause of the problems. Many times, the same questions can also help the organizations in increasing the competency of the organization while ingraining preventive corrective measures in the system at the same time.

Corrective measures are for every department

Corrective measure should be implemented in every department involved in the manufacturing processes. It should not be limited only to the quality department of the production facility. One will definitely not be able to sustain the gains achieved from corrective measures by just applying them in the quality department. A thorough involvement of company’s resources in filling the gaps in the manufacturing processes in every department can only result in overall engagement thus consequently boosting the sustenance.

Keep a tab on processes with high risks

Processes carrying high risks are needs frequent audits in order to yield high results. Auditing these processes frequently is one of the most efficient methods to improve quality of products in automotive and aerospace manufacturing industry. It also provides the leadership with an insight if the corrective measures implemented are working in the desired manner or not.

Ignore short term costs and focus on long term ROI

Most of the companies fail in sustaining the developments because they worry too much about the incurring costs. One should focus on prioritizing quality rather than slip thinking about the costs. Corrective measures yielding permanent results might be expensive but leaves a concrete impact on the manufacturing processes. Quality must be treated as the foremost priority in order to provide a better customer service as well as acquisitioning and retention of customers as well.

It is yet a very misunderstood concept. Corrective measures can act as a catalyst for any organization in sustaining the benefits achieved in the processes involved. Avoiding these will only result in recurrence of problems which will ultimately impact the various processes, systems and controls involved in the manufacturing processes of any industry.
