Making a difference in the organization that you are working for and getting noticed for the work done is the focus of all the employees in the organization. In the last Transformation Tuesday, we looked at 5 pointers to being noticed in the organization. This Transformation Tuesday, let us look at the remaining 5 pointers to get noticed:

Look at new ways and means to solve the problems

Keep looking at different ways and means to solve the problems. You can opt for an innovative way to solve the problem. Always be open to sharing your innovative solutions to problems. Challenge the current ways and means of working and try innovative and creative ways to do the same things. Such people are encouraged in the organization and they are given more responsibilities.

Keep updating your communication skills

Be thoughtful during your interaction with senior leadership. Whether it is a presentation, or discussion, or any other kind of interaction with the senior leadership team, you should prepare well in advance on how you will communicate with them. Every situation demands something that you never thought of so be ready to adapt and adjust. For example, you might want to appear confident in a presentation, but it is better to be humble when working in a presentation. Some scenarios would demand you to be curious and some would want you to support your point with data. You should also follow up with others and make sure you clearly understand their requirements.

Building relationships

Do not restrict yourself to your projects, your domain. Look for ways and means to collaborate and work with other important players in the organization. Expand your network, as the network is net worth. When you work collaboratively across functions then your visibility will improve.

Live by the vision and mission of the organization

Organizations use vision and mission statement to communicate what is expected of employees. Vision talks about what an organization expects from the employees and the leadership team. A strong leader lives by the values of the organization. An employee who lives by the values of the organization and who inspires others to follow him/her will always be noticed and looked up to. To be noticed you need to keep your actions aligned to the organization’s values.

Ask to participate

Do not hesitate to ask for opportunities to show your skills. If at any point you think you can be an asset to the organization in any strategic initiative, ask to participate. Tell the leadership team why you think you can be valuable to the initiative and how you can contribute to the initiative. Your senior leadership always wants to put you in a project where they think you can do the most. There is no shortcut to getting noticed. So if you focus on the 5 points that we discussed in our last Transformation Tuesday and the 5 points that we have to offer today with patience and dedication then you are bound to have a stellar career.
