In any organization, all the functions work together for the growth and development of the organization. Each function in the organization is equally important and necessary. In this edition of iFaber, we bring to you yet another transformation catalyst at Faber Infinite – Mr. Amit Srivastava, Senior Management Consultant at Faber Infinite Consulting. Amit has been a star performer at Faber and has supported clients across sectors and geographies in their transformation journeys. Below are the excerpts of our conversation with Amit Srivastava.
Faber Infinite (FI) – To begin with, tell us about yourself, Amit!
Amit Srivastava (AS) – Well, I have been brought up in the eastern part of India – from the steel city of India, Jamshedpur and being the youngest in the family, I’m also the most pampered one. I am a mechanical engineer and professionally my career started with one of the Mexican based automotive MNC, Metalsa India Private Limited. While ramping up the production and improving the quality, I developed a keen interest in Lean Management and Operational Excellence. This is when I decided to excel in the same field and went on to go for a six sigma black belt certification. After Metalsa, I have also worked in electronics, project and service-based industries specializing in domains such as Planning, Operations and Quality.
FI – That’s great to know. Amit, tell us that nobody knows about you here!
AS – I am a big-time foodie and enjoy street food the most. Also, I can never say a NO when it comes to going for a long drive as I enjoy driving. The longest I have driven is for 1800 Kms. Apparently, I would like to add that on a broader note panda is my spirit animal, now this will surely give you an insight about me.
FI – What led you to Faber Infinite Consulting?
AS – As I mentioned earlier about my interest in Lean tools and operational excellence, which eventually led me to consulting wherein I started acting as an in-house consultant for a couple of clients. Further to which I thought of bagging in more experience and came across Faber Infinite Consulting where one of my friends had already served and use to always appreciate the structured approach of Team Faber towards any transformation.
FI – What inspires you most about your work?
AS – The most inspiring part about my work is the trust that the client shows in us – that we can bring about drastic changes towards betterment in their organization and deliver tangible benefits. The best part is that we get an opportunity to work in different domains and types of industries to showcase our capabilities. So, we give in best and we also gain a lot of knowledge.
FI – What is the most difficult part of your work?
AS – The most difficult part of my work is when you come across a client who expect you to deliver results overnight. We are not magicians who can do wonders overnight. We have a structured approach towards any continuous improvement initiative that not only gives better results but also helps the client sustain the same.
On that note, I would want to add that due to the framework we deploy, we not only deliver results but deliver exponential results, right every time!
FI – If you could give one piece of advice to a larger audience, what would it be?
AS – Surround yourself with positive people. People who believe in you. As we all know that life is all about ups and downs, now it is the low time in life, when people who trust you, love you and believe in you will push you towards the high tides. It is important to have real friends in life. Be close to your family because, in the end, that is all that matters.
FI – Which is your favorite book?
AS – Well, I am not an avid reader, still I would talk about one of the books which I liked “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. The story revolves around a young shepherd who decides to follow his recurring dreams of great treasures in a land far away. The alchemist tells you to believe in your dreams no matter what hardships are thrown in your way. The story, in its own fantasy, says that if you decide to achieve something in life, the whole Universe will conspire to give you what you desire. So, in a gist, never give up on your dreams, believe in them and keep moving!
FI – Nice! Any thoughts which motivate you – which you would want to share with our readers?
AS – Yes, “Arise, Awake and Stop not until the goal is reached” by Swami Vivekananda. This quote is a powerhouse of self-motivation for me. Whenever you feel disappointed or lost, you must remind yourself why you started in the first place and take each day as a new opportunity to walk towards your goals.
Thank you, Faber Amit, for sharing these wonderful and encouraging details about you and life at Faber. We wish you luck in all your future assignments.
