Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has already created a lot of buzz in the Indian Sub-continent and now has already started to ring bells in the neighboring nations as well. Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister of China seems to be very impressed with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and has taken the cleanliness mission to his country now. He has launched a ‘toilet revolution’ in China to improve the sanitary infrastructure at tourist sites with the focus being on rural areas.
All about Swachh China movement
As we all know, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Modi government to enhance the waste management system efficiently and promote cleanliness. According to Xinhua, the Chinese news agency, Xi Jinping’s government has also started a program on the same foundations.
The initiative is started to cement the country’s steps towards revitalization strategy and to improve the quality of life of the population. After building toilets at the tourist spots, the focus has now shifted to rural areas. Moreover, if the reports are to be believed, the Chinese government has already built around 68,000 toilets until October 2017, which is around 20% more than the devised target. Moreover, Xi’s government now focuses to build more than 64,000 toilets at the tourist spots in the time span of 2018 to 2020. A similar example can be seen in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as well, when Modi government in 2014 set course on an ambitious journey of building 65.82 lakh household toilets and five lakh community and public toilets by the end of the year 2019. In a surprising turn of events, about 35.81 lakh household and 2.2 lakh community toilets have already been built. Most of the states have even surpassed their given targets in the year 2018 itself.
What is Five S?
The Five S method is an age-old method where the unwanted and wasteful items are picked out and disposed of the system to help the system move in an orderly fashion by allocating the right items and ideas at the correct and needed positions. The same is being observed in the Swachh China movement as well and is being used to improve and increase efficiency and productivity respectively.
