Managers should have knowledge regarding their employee’s goals, skills, and aspirations and refer to this matrix when they are to assign the tasks.

2.       Don’t begin with profit conversations

It is necessary that your employee has the knowledge that money matters, but they should also know that their managers are valuing transparency and integrity just as much as money. Let your employees know that it is completely up to them to achieve their goals, but the manager is always there to support them. Rather than pitching in while the project is not going as desired, step back and focus on mentoring.

Likewise, if overstepping the agreed budget of a project means fostering creativity and opportunities to produce great results, a trusted leader will do their best to push these projects forward — knowing the professional benefits will overshoot the temporary financial loss in the long run.

3.       Give them opportunities to share their story

Every employee should be given an opportunity to share their experience and success with other teammates. This will encourage a positive and healthy competition between the teammates which will motivate them to give their best achieving their goals even with everything else and without managers stepping in and urging constantly to get things done. Apart from that, this will help in setting a company wide forum for every employee to showcase their work.

4.       Stay connected

Don’t think that all your employee believes in a goal from the beginning. While leaders believe independence encourages professional growth, they also know it is important to remain engaged with employees to ensure everyone understands how their role and work fits into the company’s overall success.

5.       Act selflessly

This is the most difficult part, to act selflessly. Try to encourage a culture where the practice is to say we and not me first. This is beneficial for the organization in the longterm. When employees are assigned responsibility for their own actions, they also feel more empowered. As a result, they are more likely to be proactive and take initiative. This helps to build a company culture of motivated achievers, rather than timid followers.
