LEADING CHANGE

Organizational change management and transformation have become permanent features of the business landscape. However, organizations often fails in its change management efforts. Why organizations fail?

As a part of our Transformation Tuesday series, we are glad to share following interesting approach to avoid failures in any change management initiatives!

By adapting to the following eight step process of ‘Leading Change’ outlined by Dr. Kotter, organizations can avoid failure and become adept at change.

  1. Create a Sense of Urgency- Identify and discuss crises, potential crises or opportunities

  2. Build a Guiding Coalition- Assemble a group with enough power to lead the change effort

  3. Form a Strategic Vision and Initiatives- Create a vision and develop a strategy to help direct the change effort

  4. Enlist a Volunteer Army- The guiding coalition new behaviors and leading by giving example

  5. Enable Action by Removing Barriers– Changing systems or structures that undermines the vision by encouraging risk taking activities

  6. Generate Short-Term Wins- Recognizing and rewarding employees involved in planning for visible performance improvement

  7. Sustain Acceleration- Hiring, promoting and developing employees who can implement the vision

  8. Institute Change – Creating the connections between new behaviors and corporate success
