On one hand where we have seen heavy down-sizing in the Information Technology domains, it can also be noted that Indian economy is growing steadily and with the same, there is also sectoral growth. Further, the sectoral growth demands skills to compete with the global market. Hence, Skill Development has become an integral part of organizations.

As per India Skills Report 2017, of all the students entering the job market across the country, hardly 2/5 meets the employment criteria set by the employers. There is a serious shortage of skilled people available in the country, which is a grave problem. This has led Government of India to adopt skill development as a national priority. Further, organizations around are deploying skill development tools and trainings for the employees. This is being undertaken massively by organizations to combat the existing skill problems.

As shared in our past post ‘Skill Development for Unprecedented Revenue Growth’, Faber Infinite’s PriZma – Skill Analysis platform is extremely effective to gauge the skills of the employees and to help them overcome existing gaps. Skill Analysis indicates the skills and skill levels required on the job and the actual skills possessed by the employees. Apart from focusing on the gaps and coming up with the solutions for the same, PriZma also facilitates to make a training plan considering the needs and training requirements of the employees.

Recently, India’s largest paracetamol manufacturer has been one of the beneficiaries of PriZma platform, where Team Faber has helped the team in skill analysis and development initiative by rolling out PriZma. They are the largest and leading manufacturer of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) Paracetamol/ Acetaminophen.
Every client has different requirements and it keeps varying from time to time. Skill Gap Analysis for the above mentioned client was done with an objective to analyze the necessary skills of the employees, design a training calendar, conduct annual appraisals and to create a skill inventory for future. The skills were analyzed by identification and distribution of skills into four broad categories such as Functional/ Technical Skills, Operational Excellence Skills, Behavioral & Soft Skills. After the required skills identification, a customized questionnaire for all skills and positions covering all departments was prepared. The questionnaire was rolled out to all the participants through online platform which further helped to receive and analyze the data to analyze the skill gaps.

This comprehensive analysis was conducted for more than 120 participants over 10 departments and 12 cadres. All members from the leadership, tactical and execution layers were covered and the tool helped to generate individual as well as consolidated team insights. These details were then used to identify the skill gap and design improvement plan for each employee.

Skill analysis helped to identify skill gaps for each position thereby helping in identifying the training requirements. This is of utmost importance because the lack of proper identification, training and nurturing of skills can lead to frustration and employee turnover. Faber can justly help you save from such a scary organizational future and can deliver with the most appropriate results.
