Do you keep delaying the work you do? The delay might be due to multiple reasons including your habits, boredom, or mistake in your thinking. We do feel bad about this delay that we do. We criticize ourselves for it. But once we understand the cause for the delay, we can strategize our work.Â

Habits
One of the main reasons for delay or postponing of any work is lack of discipline. People who keep delaying, enjoy the leisure and fun overwork. In other words, we can say is such people do not have the right systems in place. To understand if this is the issue that is affecting your work then follow the below approaches:
- Schedule your most important or long-term work consistently. Work on such tasks every day. It will make it easier for you to execute it.Â
- Make a schedule for new tasks that you are starting. Develop your own system, a system that matches your personality and assets.
Tasks that create boredom or negative emotions
To understand whether it is your emotions that are the main reason for the delay ask yourself – How I my mental health? Do the tasks that I delay evoke certain negative emotions? Do these tasks make me feel bored, angry, impatient, or annoyed? In such cases, we need to identify what part of the work annoys you the most and what does not. Based on this you need to plan the work.
Your Thought Process
If you are relatively well-disciplined in many areas but struggle in others, then you need to work on your specific thought patterns. Ask yourself – Do I enjoy the task? Is the task more difficult compared to the skills that I have? If the answer is yes, then it means you are thinking of work in a way that makes it more unpleasant than it is.Â
Though we have looked at 3 parameters that cause the delay, all of these are interrelated. No matter what the primary reason for the delay is, you need to try the combination of different strategies to avoid delay and minimize postponing
